Wherever I am, the world comes after me.
It offers me its busyness. It does not believe that I do not want it.
Now I understand
why the old poets of China went so far
and high
into the mountains, then crept into the pale mist.
"The Old Poets of China" by Mary Oliver

Discussing ASEAN Integration, University of the Philippines in the Visayas

Dr. Aileen S.P. Baviera and Dr. Joefe B. Santarita, were guest speakers at a lecture on the 'ASEAN integration 2015 and Beyond' held on August 19, 2013 at the University of the Philippines in the Visayas (UPV) in Iloilo City. Dr. Baviera gave an overview of ASEAN integration and community building, covering its economic, sociocultural and political-security pillars. Dr. Baviera also discussed the ASEAN Political Security Community, which proposes cooperation in conflict resolution and peace building, among others.

Dr. Santarita, on the other hand, discussed the case of human capital development and its role in the formation of a people-centered ASEAN in 2015. He outline the current efforts of the ASEAN in enhancing the circulation of human capital in Southeast Asia, particularly the implementation of mutual recognition agreements (MRAs) on engineering, nursing, architectural, accountancy, dental and tourism services.
