News @ UP Asian Center

Ambassador of Malaysia, H.E. Dato’ Abdul Malik Melvin Castelino bin Anthony, paid a visit to the UP Asian Center on 23 August 2023 as part of his courtesy call to the University of the Philippines to discuss possible future collaboration between the University and the Embassy.

The UP Asian Center will continue holding classes partly online and partly onsite for the new academic year 2023—2024. The number of face-to-face classes in relation to online sessions will depend on the pedagogical preference of the instructor and the particular circumstances of students enrolled in the class. The UP Asian Center successfully hosted the recent visit of Dr. Shun Ohno and his students from the Department of Global Citizenship Studies, Seisen University from Tokyo, Japan, on 23 August 2023, 2:00 pm, at the GT-Toyota Asian Center Auditorium, University of the Philippines Diliman.

Hosted by the University of the Philippines Diliman led by the UP Asian Center, the Consortium for Southeast Asian Studies in Asia (SEASIA)  is now accepting submissions for its 5th Biennial International Conference with the theme "De/Centering Southeast Asia." The deadline for submission is on 30 November 2023.  

A total of 62 graduates marched for the UP Asian Center and TriCollege Ph.D. Philippine Studies Program recognition ceremonies last Sunday, 30 July 2023, 2:00 pm, at the GT-Toyota Asian Cultural Center Auditorium, University of the Philippines Diliman with the theme, Sandiwaan: Interconnections. National Artist for Music, Dr. Ramon P. Santos, Professor Emeritus at the UP Diliman College of Music, was the commencement speaker and guest of honor
