  • UP Asian Center Library, Recipient of Japan Foundation Headquarters Grant

    The UP Asian Center has been selected as one of the recipients of books and materials by the Japan Foundation Grant Program 2023. Under the Japan Foundation Grant Program for Japanese Studies Projects (Library Support), a total of 39 books were donated to the UP Asian Center Library on 1 April 2024.

  • Read Japan Expands UP Asian Center’s Library Collection

    The UP Asian Center has been selected as one of the recipients of materials by the Read Japan Project. The impressive collection covered the fields Japanese Culture and HistoryJapanese contemporary societyand even Japanese architecture. A total of fifty-four (54) books were donated to the UP Asian Center Library on 26 March 2024.

The UP Asian Center is now accepting abstract submissions for the “Japanese Studies in the Philippines Research Development Competition: Year 6.” Undergraduate and graduate students currently enrolled in Philippine Universities may submit any topic related to Japanese Studies can be submitted (except topics that focus solely on natural sciences, medical sciences, and engineering).

UP Asian Center alumnus Abdulwahid Panganting was awarded the 2023 Prize for Global Research by the provincial government of Antwerp, Belgium for his thesis, “A move forward or a step backward? Challenges in implementing the 2014 Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro.” He was among 10 graduates who received the award as recognition for their “innovative and development-related research on the Global South.”

The UP Asian Center, together with Osaka University, co-presented the workshop "Photonics in Focus: From Research to Real-Life Applications" on 25 August 2023 , 2:00 PM (GMT+8), at the Seminar Room, UP Asian Center, University of the Philippines Diliman.

The Asian Center, University of the Philippines Diliman is looking for one (1) graduate assistant for the Office of the Dean for the First Semester, AY 2023–2024. The deadline for applications is on 29 September 2023. This is open to all UP Diliman graduate students. AC graduate students are highly encouraged to apply.

Ambassador of Malaysia, H.E. Dato’ Abdul Malik Melvin Castelino bin Anthony, paid a visit to the UP Asian Center on 23 August 2023 as part of his courtesy call to the University of the Philippines to discuss possible future collaboration between the University and the Embassy.
