The Asian Center, University of the Philippines Diliman will host Khenpo Tashi Woser, who will be speaking on Buddhism on Saturday,  2 May 2015, 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m, ASEAN Hall, Hall of Wisdom, GT-Toyota Asian Cultural Center, Asian Center, University of the Philippines Diliman.  The event is free and open to the public; seats are on a first-come, first-served basis.

Khenpo Tashi Woser is lead professor of Buddhist Philosophy at the Vikrama Shila Buddhist Institute in Pokhara, Nepal. He oversees the general administration of the Institute and teaches courses on Buddhist logic (tsema) and debate (dhuda), Vinaya monastic discipline, and Uma (The Buddhist Middle Way Philosophy). In the Buddhist community, a “khenpo” is equivalent to a Ph.D.

Khenpo Tashi Woser was invited to the Asian Center to interact with students taking up a graduate course, “Philosophies and Religions in Asia,” offered by the Asian Center and handled this semester by Dr. Maria Cecilia T. Medina.


 The Asian Center offers M.A. degrees in Asian Studies with four fields of specialization: Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia, South Asia, and West Asia. The Center also has an M.A. program in Philippine Studies that allows students to major in Philippine society and culture, Philippine foreign relations, or Philippine development studies. The Center offers a Ph.D. program in Philippine Studies in conjunction with the College of Arts and Letters and the College of Social Sciences and Philosophy.
