The students of Asian Studies 236.3, along with their professor, Dr. Michiyo Yoneno-Reyes, will be holding a special forum on multiculturalism in Japan on Tuesday, 24 February 2015, 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m at the Audio-Visual Room of the Asian Center Library, Hall of Wisdom, Asian Center, University of the Philippines Diliman. The forum is free and open to the public.

 A student of AS 236.3, Sheila Rosario, will open proceedings with a report on the article, “Support for Multiculturalism, But for Whom?: Effects of Ethnonational Identity on the Endorsement of Multiculturalism in Japan.” Following Ms. Rosario are two guest speakers from Kyoto University. Yuya Iida, a Ph.D. candidate at Kyoto University will discuss Filipino trainees on agricultural in Japan, while Senna Nukata, also from Kyoto University will talk about Japanese-Filipino children in Japan.

Both speakers will come to the Asian Center as part of the Kyoto University Asian Studies Unit (KUASU), of which the University of the Philippines, through the Asian Center, is an active proponent.
