The University of the Philippines Department of Linguistics, with the Korea Foundation and in cooperation of UP Asian Center, will hold the 3rd Philippine Korean Studies Symposium (3PKSS) from 12 to 13 December 2014 at the GT Toyota Asian Center Auditorium, Asian Center, University of the Philippines-Diliman.

With an overarching theme of “Forging Directions for Korean Studies in the Philippines” this year’s PKSS aims to provide Filipino and foreign scholars a venue where they can share ideas about the field, present their research, and help promote the study of Korea in the Philippines.

Keynote speakers include Dr. Ho-Min Sohn from the University of Hawai’i at Manoa; John Dury of Yonsei University Graduate School of International Studies; Dr. Hangrok Cho of Sangmyung University; and Dr. Le Dang Hoan from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in Hanoi.

Several panels in the two-day symposium include papers on gender, literature, Korean-Filipinos, Korean and Tagalog comparative linguistics, and student exchange. The symposium is organized by the UP Department of Linguistics, the Korea Foundation, the Korean Cultural Center, the Asian Center, and the Korean Embassy in the Philippines.
