Dr. Tina Clemente, Assistant Professor at the Asian Center, joined international experts from think tanks and the academe  for the ASEM Think-Tank Symposium last 22 to 23 July in Shanghai, China.  She delivered a talk on “Critical Areas of ASEM Connectivity: Reflections for Emerging Asian Countries” in the Connectivity and ASEM session.

The two-day symposium was hosted by the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, organized by the Shanghai Institutes for International Studies (SIIS), and co-sponsored by European Union, Mongolia, Poland, and Singapore. For more information about the symposium, read the SIIS press release (Photo courtesy of the SIIS. Dr. Tina Clemente handles courses on social and economic development in China, theories of development, and development issues in the Philippines, among others. Her research interests include contemporary China studies; institutional analysis, and economic history. 

Asian Center offers masters degrees in Asian Studies covering four areas of specialization: Northeast Asian Studies, Southeast Asian Studies, South Asian Studies, and West Asian Studies. The Center also offers M.A. and a Ph.D.program in Philippine Studies.
