The UP Asian Center its first-ever Alumni Homecoming, "M-uliʔ: The Asian Center Homecoming" on 29 November 2025, 6:00 PM (GMT+8), at the GT-Toyota Asian Center Auditorium, Asian Center, UP Diliman. The event is BY INVITATION ONLY.
ABOUT THE THEME
“M-uliʔ” is a Subanen word which means “to return home” (Austronesia Comparative Dictionary). The word is akin to the Filipino word "muli" which means "once again." The first word symbolizes revisiting the foundation of the Asian Center as the premier hub for area studies in the country, committed to the production of knowledge about Philippine society and culture, just like how the Subanen tribe, the biggest Lumad population of Mindanao, established cultural heritage and sustained their identity for thousands of years. The Filipino word “muli”, on the other hand, denotes doing something a second or another time, such as coming once more to a place that used to be one’s community, alma mater, or workplace. Such is the Asian Center to many who have witnessed it rise, grow, and evolve through the years.
