The UP Asian Center, in partnership with the UP Diliman Gender Office, will be holding an online training workshop, Gender Sensitivity Orientation for AC Students, Staff, and Faculty, on 23 September 2026, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, PST (GMT+8), at the ASEAN and Japan Halls, UP Asian Center. The event is exclusively for the Asian Center Students, Staff, and Faculty. Meals and certificates will be provided.
ABOUT THE TRAINING-WORKSHOP
In line with the effort to build a gender-responsive unit and foster a safe and inclusive community in the University, members of the community such as the faculty, administrative staff, REPs, and students of the Asian Center—both new and continuing—must undergo Gender Sensitivity Training. In this light, the activity aims to provide accessible Gender and Development (GAD) training to students, faculty, and staff, with the goal of strengthening their awareness and understanding of gender-related concepts, concerns, and appropriate practices in both academic and workplace settings. Beyond building individual awareness and capacity, the activity intends to inform and contribute to the development of future policies and practices of the Asian Center, ensuring that these are increasingly gender-responsive, inclusive, and responsive to the needs of our diverse community.

The UP Diliman Gender Office (UPDGO) plays a vital role in all gender matters, issues, and concerns at the University of the Philippines Diliman. Created in 1999 as a committee to respond to the gender-related needs of UP Diliman, the UPDGO became an office in 2001, eventually joined the units directly under the Office of the Chancellor in 2003, and has since evolved in the nature, scope, and complexity of gender work. The office facilitates gender mainstreaming and the promotion of gender knowledge and discourses through training, research and publication, counseling, advocacy, organizing gender and development committees, and extension work.
