Wherever I am, the world comes after me.
It offers me its busyness. It does not believe that I do not want it.
Now I understand
why the old poets of China went so far
and high
into the mountains, then crept into the pale mist.
"The Old Poets of China" by Mary Oliver

ABOUT THE 2025 FACULTY MERIT PROMOTIONS

The Board of Regents (BOR) approved the 2025 Faculty Merit Promotion (FMP) Guidelines during its 1398th meeting on 27 March 2025. These guidelines were reviewed and revised by the System Academic Affairs Committee (AAC), the President’s Advisory Council (PAC), and the BOR based on feedback from the previous promotion cycles (2019–2022), as well as inputs from all Constituent Universities (CUs) and Autonomous College (AC).

In the FMP, UP faculty are promoted in cycles based on a set of guidelines determined by the administration and approved by the BOR. The four ranks are instructor, assistant professor, associate professor, and full professor.  Each faculty member could be promoted within their rank, from instructor 1–7, assistant professor 1–7, associate professor 1–7, professor 1–12, or cross-rank into the next position.
