  • Champions of Change and Innovation: UP Youth Summit on Sustainable Development Goals

    The UP Asian Center together with the University of the Philippines (UP) Office of the President, through the UP Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs—Office of Student Development Services (OVPAA-OSDS), and UP CIFAL Philippines will host the two-day capacity-building event, "Champions of Change and Innovation: UP Youth Summit on Sustainable Development Goals." The UP Samahan ng Mag-Aaral ng Asya (SAMA)—the student organization of the UP Asian Center—will be holding elections for its next batch of officers from 24 to 30 April 2019. Filing of candidacies runs from 27 March 2019 to 6 April 2019, and campaign period opens 8 April 2019 and ends 23 April 2019.

Asian Studies: Journal of Critical Perspectives on Asia, a peer-reviewed journal published since 1963 by the Asian Center, University of the Philippines Diliman, welcomes original contributions in the form of full-length research articles, reviews, commentaries and documents, literary writings, and travel narratives.

The China Book Center was launched at the Asian Center, University of the Philippines Diliman. The China Book Center holds over 500 English publications on China, which will be made available to the public via the Asian Center library.

The book, East Asian Popular Culture: Philippine Perspectives, is now available for download. Edited by Michiyo Yoneno-Reyes, it contains analyses of topics—such as books, films, television and personalities—that occupy a prominent place in the cultural production of countries in East Asia. The book was published in 2013 by the UP Asian Center.

The Consortium of the Southeast Asian Studies in Asia welcomes paper and panels for the biennial Southeast Asian Studies in Asia Conference (SEASIA 2019), with the theme “Change and Resistance: Future Directions of Southeast Asia,” on 5 to 7 December 2019 at the Academia Sinica, Taipei, Taiwan.
